Solve Overheating On 3 Series BMW

July 8, 2010 by amabq · Leave a Comment

There seems to be some BMW cars that suffer from an overheating trouble. The 3 series E36 car is the one known for this problem. The model hit seems to be the 4 cylinder made between 1996 and 1999. Head gaskets and water pumps on 3 series BMW cars For Sale of this point in time were of suspect quality when they left the factory, meaning that this problem could then arise.

Drivers of this BMW age car heard their water pumps getting louder. This meant the plastic impellers inside the pump had probably snapped causing the cars to start overheating. This means though the pump is spinning it may not actually be pumping any water through the system. So if the pump on your motorcar does sound noisy and the temperature gauge is going into the red then the water pump should be checked straight away. The modified pumps should have metal impellers to solve the problem.

If the car is still overheating and the heater is also blowing out cold air, ascertain the thermostat is not jammed shut, preventing the water from circulating and forming an air lock.

A garage would normally suggest the flaw lies in the head gasket having blown or the head being warped. People have in fact gone to great expense to change the head gasket, only to discover that it is not the defect at all. A faulty thermostat housing has also been to blame. These thermostat houses can warp somewhat to let air seep into the cooling system. An airlock can then happen, causing the water to stop flowing around the engine. It also appears that even after pressure testing and leak testing of the engine this fault is not easily detectable.

It’s better to make sure you check this part as one of your first items so you do not waste your cash when it is not necessary. At the same time exchange any rubber hoses that appear to be perished or do not fit snugly to make sure these can be ruled out for any faults. The newer BMW 1 Series and 3 Series do not seem to suffer from any of these problems.

BMW Wheel Problems

July 2, 2010 by amabq · Leave a Comment

If you intend fit alloy wheels to a BMW E34 5 series some problems can be encountered if care is not taken. Non standard alloy wheels that you can buy from almost accessory shops, you can find this will make the steering wheel vibrate when you reach speeds around 60MPH. Also this vibration may occur under braking, which may make you believe that a wheel balancing problem is out of the equation. First if this fault seems to appear under the acceleration and approximately the fifty to sixty mark, folks can tend to think it is the balancing of the wheels.

I have had my tyres on my own BMW balanced and rebalanced several times. Only to discover that after even a day the vibration is back again, even when I thought it had helped. Then when the fault started to appear when braking I was thrown down the route of reasoning it was the brake discs that were at fault and when the MOT came round the front brake discs had to be replaced anyway because they were just under the legal limit. Once the new discs and pads were fitted, the vibration trouble was still there.

It was said to me that the track control arms are usually the trouble that makes the car pull to the left when braking and no doubt the reason of the vibration. So I decided to change both items. I also checked the wheels were not buckled in any way. The wheels were also swapped from front to back to check that this was not the problem. But to no avail.

When buying many of these E39 BMW 5 series alloys wheels from the aftermarket shops, they will tell you that the wheels are the same to fit the E34 models as well as the E39 model. However a hub on the E34 model BM is some what smaller than its newer sister, which means that even although there are moldable shims supplied with the wheels they are not suitable. Three various styles of aftermarket alloy wheels were tested on my E34 BMW including one set of BMW MV style type 1. I also tried the TSW Vipor style wheels which gave the same fault and the opted for some AC Schnitzer replica wheels in the end.

By chance I was looking on eBay and stumbled across some metal shims that were designed especially for the BMW E34 to eliminate this vibration issue. With these shims fitted the vibration halted. If you are experiencing the same woes, it could be worth you taking a look on eBay yourself to find some.

Featuring your car in Car Magazines can have many advantages for any Car Owners.

First, it will give a good documentation of your modified car for your effort and secondly, it
will provide you with a good exposure for your car if you want to sell it.

However, since there are millions of automobiles out there on the road, how can one attract the attention of Car Magazine to feature your car?

Here are some tips and guides on How to Feature your car in magazines by a BMW car owner whose BMW M3 manual was featured in 3 Car Magazines.

1. BE the FIRST (NEWS SELLS)

Car magazines works like newspapers, they need news to sell their magazines, hence to make the magazines notice you, you need give them a reason (some kind of news) for them. If your car has the first new modifications from a car tuner, that would be ideal as it will create attention of readers.

2. BE UNIQUE: CREATE a whole extraordinary car:

Your best bet is to start off with your mind to create something really special to your own liking, of course according to your taste. You don’t want to create a unique car only to hate it after the modifications. People want to see something special. “Extra Ordinary” always attracts attention. But remember to do it tastefully otherwise it will only attract negative attention. Be creative, don’t limit yourself to accessories or products from just one car tuner, you may mix and match with products of other car tuners or even from other makes of car tuners.

3. CUSTOMISED MODIFICATIONS: ATTENTION TO DETAIL:

Custom modifications attracts attention, it shows creativity and uniqueness too, that nobody else’s has. Car Magazines want to show unique parts to the world and people will want to buy the magazines to read and to check out the new parts.

4. BRIGHT COLOURS:

Car magazines love BRIGHT colored car, so if your modified car is of that, you have a point ahead of other car owners. You may have noticed this in all other front cover of magazines too. So if you plan to repaint your car, catch attention and make it to the cover, choose bright! (important note: choose a bright color that you can live with!)

5. CONTACT YOUR LOCAL MAGAZINES:

Well you need to let the magazines know that you have a unusual car for them to feature. Find the best magazine that suit your car theme or make and contact them. If your car is modified by a tuner, you may want to ask your tuner to call the Car Magazines as they should have contacts to the Magazine publishers.

If you have a special unique car, many car magazines are more than willing to feature it. Just think of it this way, Car magazines need cars to feature in their magazines every month! (At least six feature cars per issue). How are they going to find these new cars? If you have one and feel like getting it featured, capture some good pictures now and email them. You will have to let Car Magazines publishers and editors know of the existence of your Unique Car. Good Luck!

The new BMW 7 Series.

The flagship BMW is back to reclaim its top position and is really on the right track.

Power

Under the hood is bigger and better than any previous effort in the seven series – the 750iL boasts a mighty 400 horsepower (which is more than 40 more horses than before) and can rocket from zero to sixty in less than five seconds.  Although the miles per gallon of the new  4.4 liter V8 engine are a bit modest in terms of conservation (15 city and 23 highway), they are still competitive among the big boys in the luxury class.

Comfort

The new 750iL is big in terms of power, but the older versions often came under a lot of criticism when it came to the interior.  Larger bodied individuals often passed up previous cars in the seven series even though the power and handling were second to none, simply because they didn’t feel there was enough room for them in the cockpit.Yet another complaint about the previous model was that there was no seat adjustments to easily accomodate larger individuals.

BMW has reacted to criticisms of the previous model's interior by improving on the cab's head and leg room space. The arrangement of the control panel has also been made to please the driver.

BMW got the interior spot on with ergonomic design for comfort and ease of use.

Behind the Wheel

Incredible, almost space age options take the driving experience and the luxury car’s handling to unimaginable new levels. As ever the number of choices becomes more dream world like with each generation: night vision, side view cameras, rear wheel drive, and pedestrian detection.

Driving dynamics are taken to another level with improved control with individually operating electronic dampers as well as anti-roll technology. In the wet, the big 7 still manages to do a steady job.

BMW has always been a force to be reckoned with in the world of luxury cars, but even they seem to have outdone themselves with the new 750iL.For eighty thousand dollars you get more than the price value as it is a real pleasure to be in this car whether it is moving or standing still.

BMW M3

Sports cars are performance vehicles that provide driving pleasure. They allow one to engage in the absolute driving experience and be in touch directly with the highway or road, as diametrically as possible.

In the automobile industry where economy vehicles, “family sedans” and SUV’s dominate the field, sports cars definitely stand out.

These types of cars, for the skilled drivers, can give optimum performance on the road. Not all drivers are equally skilled, but to individuals who are capable of feeling and understanding the faint messages of these vehicles, they can indulge in a rewarding and satisfying driving experience since sports cars are intended to be driven fairly fast.

Because of this driving pleasure, many people likes to own a sports car. This is just one of the many reasons why people like these vehicles. Other reasons include:

1. Appearance. The aerodynamic design of a sports car makes it attractive to car lovers. Although when you are making an automotive purchase, this should not be the principal or only reason to purchase that vehicle. Functionality should be the main consideration even though beauty will also enter into your decision.

2. Driving features. While other vehicles are mainly designed for affordability, sports cars gives emphasis on performance and execution. The trait and condition of driving a sports car is a pleasurble experience often unmatched.

Keeping in mind their very discriminating car drivers, sports cars easily out perform the road execution of other automobiles. Drivers can easily accelerate when required, hug turns, and have a certain driving management not provided by most vehicles.

3. Fun plus excitement. The driving qualities of a sports car can provide excitement and fun.

One can spend hours talking about pleasurable experiences such as curve hugging while not taking one’s foot off the accelerator or zooming past slow moving traffic yet remaining in full control or talk about the feeling of satisfaction , and knowing that one is driving a car with superb engineering.

4. Duration and resale value. Each new vehicle depreciates the very second it is driven. However, sports cars will become more valuable as time passes, because of their above-mentioned qualities and are expected to become potential classics that will retain their value.

One does not need to make their car choice a statement, although if one chooses, the opportunity is right there. Owning a sports vehicle will make a statement about the owner’s personality.
