Drive more sensibly and save on fuel

Most of us have to keep an eye on our outgoings nowadays and one fairly major expense is running our cars. The price of petrol seems to be always going up and so there are a few rules we can all follow to help save on fuel.
One thing a lot of us are guilty of is putting our foot down when we accelerate. If you drive an automatic it is best to accelerate at a fairly moderate speed to give the transmission time to shift to the higher gears. Also if you accelerate and brake right away this is a big waste of fuel.
A good way to save on fuel is simply reduce your speed. As speed increases the fuel decreases!
Under inflated tyres are often overlooked. If they are not at the right pressure they will need to use more petrol to keep the car going. Get yourself a good tyre gauge and check the tyres at once every month. One tip is to check when they are cold because driving the car will warm up the tyres and also the air inside which increases pressure and gives a falsely high reading.
Check your air filter because a dirty one restricts the flow of air to the engine which will affect performance and also economy.
New wheels and tyres may look really good and they can improve the way that a car handles, but if they are wider then they could create more resistance and increase fuel consumption. So it is worth thinking about keeping the old tyres for long road trips which will give you a far smoother ride and far better economy.
If you are considering changing your vehicle then maybe this is the ideal time to downsize a little. Nissan and Toyota are two of the leading manufacturers who have developed highly fuel efficient cars.
This may not seem obvious, but take a look inside your vehicle and give it a bit of a spring clean. We are all often guilty of hoarding rubbish in our cars and its surprising how this extra baggage mounts up in weight. The more weight in the car the more fuel is burnt.
Finally, probably not a very popular thing to say, but whenever possible why not walk?!!
Gasoline Hitting Budgets
February 6, 2009 by amabq · Leave a Comment
Once again, the price of gas is on the rise. More and more people are finding that they just can’t find any more room in the family budget to spend more on filling up. As a result, an increasing number of people are scrambling to find ways to get more from every gallon of gasoline they put into their cars.
By the way, if you are one of the people fed up with high gas prices “Click Here“
As American’s with liberal driving habits and with many major population areas that are far-flung, requiring a great deal of commuting to and from work, people are struggling with changing their well-ingrained habits. For decades, most Americans have pulled into gas stations and filled up their fuel tank without giving too much thought to the cost, because the price of gasoline was fairly low, especially when compared to what others pay in other countries.
However, over the last several years, gasoline prices in the US have been ratcheting upward on an almost continual basis and these days you can expect to pay around $4 for a gallon of gas. Just a few years ago, those with economy cars could fill up their tank and get a bit of change back from a twenty, but today they are lucky if they can fill even their smaller fuel tanks for less than $50.
Those who drive larger vehicles are feeling the pinch even more, because in addition to having larger tanks that require more gallons of gasoline to fill the fuel tank, these larger vehicles also get less miles out of every gallon of gas because they are not as fuel efficient. People who drive even the mid-sized SUVs and minivans are now often looking at shelling out $100 to fill up.
People who have long commutes are those who are feeling the pain at the gas station more than anyone. They are in a situation where they have to continue paying the high gasoline prices to get to and from work or they have to look at alternatives, such as finding a new job, moving closer to their work, buying a different car with better fuel economy, finding people to commute to work with, using public transportation or massively improving their vehicle’s fuel consumption.
While these are all viable alternatives that people can look to if they need to economize because of the high gasoline prices, the fact of the matter is that not all of these alternatives are practical for every person. With the economy in the midst of a downturn, finding a new job, moving to a new home, or buying a more fuel efficient car are not options that are feasible to everyone.
The fact is that those who are being pinched by higher gas prices don’t always enjoy the flexibility of being able to participate in carpools or to use public transportation options. Unfortunately, this means that there are many who simply don’t have many choices or options in the matter, at least not in the short term, meaning that increasing numbers of people have to make hard choices and sacrifices just to keep their vehicle filled with the gasoline that is required to get them to their jobs and make a living.
Gasoline prices are on everyone’s minds these days. Most people have had to double their weekly budgeted amount of money so that they can fill their car’s gas tanks. That means that there is less money for groceries, medical expenses and living expenses. The gas crisis has hit everyone’s pockets. Unfortunately there is not an easy solution in sight for lowering gas prices. It may be time to take matters into your own hands and rethink how you drive. You may have to turn to alternative fuel sources. You have to educate yourself if you want to keep your budget.

Using hydrogen to improve your fuel mpg
December 27, 2008 by amabq · Leave a Comment
It seems highly unlikely that by simply fitting a water container in the engine compartment of your car, inserting some electrical plates and using the gas that is generated to add to the normal fuel in your engine, you can greatly improve your fuel MPG. But countless DIYers have built their own systems to do exactly that. Now, fortunately, there is a whole range of e-books on the subject, showing you exactly how to do it. Manuals such as the Gas4Free plan, provide a complete set of instructions to put together such a system, fit it into your car and improve your fuel mpg enormously.
The concept definitely seems to work, as all the enthusiatic testimonials seem to demonstrate. But if that’s so, you’d think the automobile manufacturers would put it into all the cars they make, wouldn’t you? I don’t even think that patenting would stand in the way of full-scale production, an arrangement to build it under licence could easily be formulated. After all, the environmental benefits and financial advantages that would, accrue would be huge. Why would any manufacturer not want to include this modern technology in their cars to improve their fuel mpg? And it’s difficult to believe that any car offering twice the fuel mpg of its competition wouldn’t completely dominate the market.
There must be something preventing the car companies from taking the plunge.
Are the oil companies trying to protect their interests and applying pressure somewhere?
Are they in a cartel? Could the government be involved in it?Could OPEC be involved - one wonders what their stance might be on oil saving technology? It certainly isn’t obvious is it?
The web sites of the various systems provide hundreds of glowing referrals from drivers who have apparently got the fuel mpg improvements promised.
Hey, I’m not so naive that I believe everything I see in the Web so I’m going to go ahead and a fit a hydrogen generator into my 2002 Honda to see if I can achive the fuel mpg savings promised.
Although I’ve never had any mechanical training, I’ve read through the Gas4Free manual and it all seems very straightforward. As time goes on I expect to see plenty of dealers offering ready built systems that you can simply install in a couple of hours. To check out the market leaders, you might find this review helpful.
Give your car a huge fuel mpg boost
December 26, 2008 by amabq · Leave a Comment
A few weeks ago, I was asked to review a collection of e-books that provide full instructions on how to use excess energy from your car engine to split water into oxygen and hydrogen. This combination of hydrogen and oxygen is then fed into the inlet manifold of your engine and would, in some cases, double the fuel mpg of your car. This got me to wonder why all the hundreds of technical ideas that seem to offer real solutions to real problems have been completely ignored by the major car manufacturers.
It seems that some had not been able to attract any funding to continue their research or they had been the subject of various sorts of threats.
Some, it seemed, have been offered large sums of money to halt their work or, most sinister of all, they had died in mysterious circumstances. Now, if only a few people had come up with these claims then you probably wouldn’t take much notice of them. However, claims like this are popping up all the time. So what’s happening?
Look at the average fuel mpg of the average car. It’s improved by about 20 – 40% in the last forty years. However, if you look at the cars that enter economy trials and competitons, you’ll see that well over 100 mpg is achievable with little difficulty by ordinary cars. Car makers are now able to do so many things in terms of steering, brakes, transmission etc, it’s hard to believe that they can’t do anything about fuel economy. If they actually produced such a vehicle they’d surely blow the competition away.
Obviously, there’s a lot to be done to find out what’s is happening, but, as a start I intend to fit my own hydrogen generator to see if I can get the big increase in fuel mpg that everyone is talking about. Fortunately the parts and the instructions are very inexpensive. I’m pretty hopeful as the technology seems sound and the products do seem to have had a very good reception from everyone who has tried them.
Of course, all fuel mpg economy systems have come under close scrutiny recently because, as the oil price has rocketed, improving fuel mpg has become a top priority for many drivers. There are numerous fuel saving offers out there and it pays to tread carefully and not rush in to anything. That said, there’s no point in delaying either and for my money, the hydrogen injections systems that I’ve been talking about offer the best bang for your buck that you’re likely to find anywhere.

How To Increase The Gas Mileage When You Drive
December 12, 2008 by amabq · Leave a Comment
One way to save gas is to look for a job that won’t be far from your residence. If you are one’s of those that have to drive to work and work is a long distance; it will create hole on one’s pocket.
One of the myths that surround saving gas is that topping your tank up to its brim makes you have more gas to use throughout the week. When you top up your gas tank and you fill it up to the brim, you risk losing most of it through over-spilling. The loss of gas from your gas tank can be avoided if you don’t always fill your tank to the brim.
You can use more than one gas credit card if you want to. Once you expend the rebate rate of a gas credit card, you can apply for another gas credit card to enjoy its rebate rate. With more than one gas credit card, you can save tremendous costs on gas.
Many people say that green cars are becoming a much accepted way to save gas these days. Although I haven’t used a green car before but they say a green car is one that does not rely on gas to power it. Wheter or not this type of vehicles exist is something that deserve some analyzing. But the way the cost of gas is going, green cars will surely be an option for many if such cars actually exist and work as advertised.
You can walk instead of using your car all the time in order to save gas. As an alternative to using your car, walking comes with tremendous health benefits such as the loss of extra fat, leaner muscles and a healthier heart. Walking to closeer destinations instead of driving can keep the gas in your car much longer.
Slamming on the car breaks unnecessarily tends to cause loss of gas. It’s really true that aggressive driving is responsible for gas loss in many cars. Jack rabbiting is a driving habit that can cause you to lose more gas than you should. Take the time to learn how to avoid these habits and you will save a lot of gas at the end of the day.
A car that is kept in excellent shape often works better and saves less gas. If you fail to maintain your car, you will work with a car that uses up more gas. Regular car maintenance is the key to saving gas.
Getting an online job may just be the right answer to the question ‘how can I save gas’. If you work at home on the Internet, then you don’t need to commute to and fro your place of work. This is indeed a great way to save on gas and still live your life, especially one that still puts food in your mouth and feed your family each month.
